The Salmon/Dogfish
I was just reading Act 3 Scene 5 for the quiz and thought it was interesting that the dogfish was a woman as well as the salmon. When the salmon responds to the dogfish's rude comment, she calls it "sister." Then she goes on to build a kind of camaraderie with the rude dogfish and tries to bond with her since they both were able to escape the nets. I thought this was a very feminist dialogue if we assume that the nets are perhaps the nets of marriage. With this reading, the author would suggest that all women should put their differences aside to become more independent from men. Honestly, I thought that was an interesting detail and I hope someone else can make a more clear conclusion about its meaning.
