When we think of pre-Victorian England, we often take such a dim view of open sexuality in society and literature. Truth be told, it's very difficult to think of these classic writers writing about sex at all. However, then we find out that Shakespeare perfected the double entendre and John Donne was a complete and utter letch in some of his most popular works. Its incredibly interesting to be an English student and reconcile these predetermined views that we have of these writers with the reality of their faults and quirks.
